Due chitarristi eclettici e affini nel percorso musicale, Peo Alfonsi e Claudio Farinone sono accomunati dalla ricerca costante di nuove strade nelle quali confluiscono armonicamente i terreni dell'improvvisazione, della composizione, della ricerca timbrica. Entrambi diplomati in Conservatorio, fanno convergere nella loro musica i linguaggi del jazz, dell'esperienza classica, dei profumi della cultura mediterranea, senza apparenti barriere di stile ma con l'accesa curiosità di scoprire nuovi percorsi. Il loro panorama sonoro si forma su chitarre classiche, a otto corde, baritono e acustiche, che ne disegnano una tavolozza coloristica ampia e suggestiva.  Si esibiscono assieme dal 2014, alternando il duo a momenti solistici, tra composizioni proprie e altri percorsi a sorpresa. Dal 2015 si esibiscono anche in trio, con il pregevole percussionista Francesco D'Auria, il quale, attraverso la sua straordinaria abilità e un ricchissimo repertorio timbrico, aggiunge un ulteriore elemento di fascino a questa formazione.

Two eclectic and harmonious guitarists, Peo Alfonsi and Claudio Farinone, joined in the constant search for new roads in which they harmonically blend their terrains of improvisation, composition, and tonal research. Both with Conservatory degrees, they bring together in their music the languages of jazz and classical experience, with fragrances of Mediterranean culture, unencumbered barriers of style but with a burning curiosity to discover new paths. Their soundscape is founded on classical, eight string, baritone and acoustic guitars with a wide and attractive color palette.  They have performed together since 2014, alternating duos with solos, using their own compositions and taking other surprising routes. Since 2015, they have also performed as a trio with renowned percussionist Francesco D'Auria, who, through his extraordinary ability and rich repertory of sound, adds a further element of charm to this formation.

Peo Alfonsi è diplomato col massimo dei voti in chitarra presso il Conservatorio di Cagliari. Da sempre affianca agli studi classici un interesse profondo per il jazz e la musica popolare. Nella sua più che ventennale carriera, che lo ha portato a suonare in più di quaranta paesi in tutto il mondo,  ha collaborato, tra gli altri, con: Pat Metheny, Gonzalo Rubalcaba, Kenny Wheeler, Trilok Gurtu, Marc Ribot, Chris Laurence, Martin France, Guinga, Ares Tavolazzi, Paolo Fresu, Antonello Salis, Stefano Battaglia, Furio Di Castri, Mark Harris, Horacio Hernandez, Noa, Gil Dor, Miguel Angel Cortes, Roberto Ottaviano, Vincent Courtois, Elena Ledda, Mauro Pagani, Gabin Dabirè, Luis Agudo e tantissimi altri nomi del panorama jazzistico internazionale. Si è esibito in molti tra i più importanti festival jazz del mondo. Nel 2006 incontra il chitarrista Al Di Meola col quale incide il live cd Midsummer night in Sardinia. Un anno dopo lo stesso Al di Meola lo invita ad unirsi stabilmente al suo quartetto “New World Sinfonia” col quale tiene centinaia di concerti in tutto i mondo e incide quattro cd e un dvd. Con lo stesso Al Di Mela ha dato vita a un duo, attivo in tutto il mondo. Si è esibito per diversi anni in duo con la cantante londinese Norma Winstone. Nel 2003 crea il l trio Ammentos con Fausto Beccalossi e Salvatore Maiore, con cui incide per l’etichetta Velut Luna i cd Ammentos e Remarkkramer. Ha inciso più di venti album di cui i più recenti Itaca e Il velo di Iside, composti interamente da sue composizioni, per la label Egea Records. Tra i riconoscimenti, ha vinto il Primo premio al Top jazz con il cd Canto d’ebano di Gabriele Mirabassi - con il quale si esibisce sia in duo che in trio da oltre dieci anni -  e il Primo premio al Posada jazz project in duo con Massimo Ferra e il premio Kramer con il trio Ammentos. Nell’ambito della musica classica, oltre a tenere recital solistici, ha lavorato come prima chitarra nell’Orchestra dell’Ente Lirico di Cagliari in opere tra cui: La vida breve, Il Barbiere di Siviglia, Otello, Don Pasquale, Falstaff  ed il Concierto para Bandoneon e orquesta di Astor Piazzolla. Come solista di chitarra elettrica, ha eseguito con l’Orchestra dell’Arena di Verona, la prima italiana del Concerto per trio jazz ed orchestra Blood on the floor di Mark-Antony Turnage. Ha preso parte alla realizzazione delle musiche del film Agata e la tempesta di Silvio Soldini e suonato in molti spettacoli teatrali. Insegna chitarra jazz al conservatorio di Verona. | www.peoalfonsi.it

 

Claudio Farinone, milanese, classe 1967, si 
diploma in chitarra al Conservatorio Bologna sotto la guida di Maurizio Colonna, tra le maggiori figure del concertismo classico internazionale.
 Dopo avere frequentato numerose masterclass e seminari di interpretazione
 e composizione e ottenuto premi a concorsi internazionali, inizia un’attività concertistica rivolta in particolar modo
 alla musica da camera, suonando, nel tempo, con diverse formazioni.
 Con Tanguediaduo, in duo con la flautista Barbara Tartari, svolge un percorso di ricerca sulla musica di Astor Piazzolla, tenendo oltre cento concerti monografici e registrando alcuni cd; attualmente la ricerca del duo prosegue su diversi territori della musica contemporanea. Suona  e registra CD con gli ensemble Torres Quartet e Aries 4.

Crea, con l’attore David Riondino, spettacoli e trasmissioni radiofoniche sul bolero cubano, sulla poesia di Ernesto Ragazzoni e su sonorizzazioni dal vivo di film muti. Recentemente è stato pubblicato da Abeat il CD, "Il bolero come Terapia", frutto di un insolito e sorprendente percorso sui temi del bolero cubano.  

Inoltre tiene concerti in solo, impiegando tre strumenti speciali: una chitarra ad otto corde, una chitarra flamenca e una chitarra baritono, che nel tempo sono diventati tratti caratteristici del suo linguaggio, posto a metà tra interpretazioni e percorsi improvvisativi. 

Nel 2013 esce per l’etichetta Abeat “Claudio Farinone plays Ralph Towner”, CD dedicato al celebre chitarrista e compositore americano, che è stato accolto entusiasticamente da pubblico e critica.

Nello stesso anno inizia nuovi percorsi, aprendo svariate collaborazioni con alcuni tra i massimi esponenti del jazz e della musica improvvisata in Italia. Tra questi: il fisarmonicista jazz Fausto Beccalossi, i chitarristi Peo Alfonsi e Bebo Ferra, il percussionista Francesco D'Auria, il  bassista Carlos "El Tero" Buschini, il virtuoso di liuto arabo Elias Nardi, il sassofonista e clarinettista Max Pizio e il sassofonista Javier Girotto. 

Nel settembre 2017 esce un nuovo CD del progetto Aktè, ispirato ai luoghi del Mediterraneo, registrato negli studi della Radio Svizzera. 

A ottobre 2017 condivide il palco con Ralph Towner per la chiusura della mostra di Lawrence Carroll al Museo Vela di Ligornetto, eseguendo con lui alcuni duetti.

Parallelamente alla carriera di musicista, dopo un ventennio di insegnamento chitarristico, approda nel 2005 alla Rete 2, canale culturale della Radio Svizzera italiana, dove  conduce regolarmente programmi musicali e realizza approfondimenti speciali con alcuni dei grandi protagonisti della musica e della cultura contemporanea.

 

 

Peo Alfonsi received a degree with honors in guitar at the Conservatory of Cagliari. His classical studies have always been accompanied by a deep interest in jazz and popular music. In his career of more than twenty years, playing in more than forty countries around the world,  he has collaborated, among others, with: Pat Metheny, Gonzalo Rubalcaba, Kenny Wheeler, Trilok Gurtu, Marc Ribot, Chris Laurence, Martin France, Guinga, Ares Tavolazzi, Paolo Fresu, Antonello Salis, Stefano Battaglia, Furio of Castri, Mark Harris, Horacio Hernandez, Noa, Gil Dor, Miguel Angel Cortes, Roberto Ottaviano, Vincent Courtois, Elena Ledda, Mauro Pagani, Gabin Dabirè, Luis Agudo and many other names in international jazz. He has performed in many of the most important jazz festivals in the world. In 2006, he met guitarist Al Di Meola, with whom he recorded the live cd Midsummer night in Sardinia. A year later, Al Di Meola invited him to permanently join his quartet “New World Sinfonia” with whom he held hundreds of concerts around the world and recorded four cds and a dvd. Again, he formed a duo with Al Di Mela, active around the world. He performed for several years in duo with London singer Norma Winstone. In 2003, he created the trio Ammentos with Fausto Beccalossi and Salvatore Maiore, with whom he recorded for the Velut Luna label the cd Ammentos and Remarkkramer. He recorded more than twenty albums, the most recent of which being Itaca and Il velo di Iside, entirely of his own compositions, for the Egea Records label. Among his many recognitions, he won the first prize at Top jazz with the cd Canto d’ebano of Gabriele Mirabassi, with whom he performed in duo and trio for more than ten years;  first prize at Posada jazz project in duo with Massimo Ferra, and the Kramer prize with the Ammentos trio. Within classical music, in addition to his solo recitals, he worked as first guitar in the Orchestra of the Ente Lirico of Cagliari in works including: La vida breve, the Barber of Seville, Othello, Don Pasquale, Falstaff, and the Concierto para Bandoneon with the Astor Piazzolla orchestra. As an electric guitar soloist, he performed with the Verona Arena Orchestra, the first Italian in the Concerto for jazz trio with the orchestra Blood on the floor of Mark-Antony Turnage. He took part in creating the music of Silvio Soldini’s film Agata and the tempest and the sounds in many theatre performances. Claudio Farinone was born in Milan in 1967. After graduating in guitar at the Conservatory of Bologna under the guidance of Maurizio Colonna, one of the most important international classic concert performers, he attended masterclasses and seminars in interpretation and composition and won many awards in international competitions. Subsequently he began an intense concert activity with a specif focus on the performance of duo chamber music.

Together with flautist Barbara Tartari, he created the duo Tanguediaduo and began taking a specific interest in the music of Astor Piazzolla, to whose music they dedicated more than one hundred monographic concerts and some CDs. Recently the duo’s attention has been attracted by the multiple suggestions of contemporary music. Meanwhile Claudio has also recorded CDs with Aries4 and the Torres Quartet.

Together with actor David Riondino, he has created performances and radio broadcasts based on the subjects of the Cuban bolero, the poetry of Ernesto Ragazzoni and the live music in silent films. For the label Abeat, they have recently released the CD "Il bolero come Terapia", the result of an unusual and surprising exploration of the themes of the Cuban bolero.

As a concert performer, he plays two special instruments: an eight string and a baritone guitar that over the time have become peculiar of his language: a mixture of interpretation and improvisation. In 2013 Abeat released “Claudio Farinone plays Ralph Towner”, a CD dedicated to the music of the famous American guitarist and composer, which was acclaimed enthusiastically by both audiences and critics. During that year he opened several collaborations with some of the greatest exponents of jazz and musical improvisation in Italy: jazz-accordeonist Fausto Beccalossi, guitarists Peo Alfonsi and Bebo Ferra, bass player Carlos "el Tero" Buschini, oud-virtuoso Elias Nardi, saxophonist and clarinettist Max Pizio and saxophonist Javier Girotto.

In September 2017 together with the group Aktè he released a new CD, recorded in the Swiss Radio studios and inspired by the music of the Mediterranean and in October, for the closing day of the Lawrence Carroll exhibition at the Vela Museum in Ligornetto, he shared the stage with Ralph Towner performing some duets with the great musician. 

After teaching guitar for about twenty years, in 2005, he joined Rete 2, the Italian Swiss Radio cultural channel, where he presents music programs and conducts special in-depth interviews with some of the major stars of music and contemporary culture.
